Q. At what stage of the building process can you take measurements for blinds?
We can provide an initial quotation from your plans, but all windows will need to be measured on site. This can only be done once all plastering has been completed and architraves have been attached.Q. What time frame should we allow for our new blinds to be manufactured and installed?
You should allow 3 - 6 weeks for blinds and 6 - 10 weeks for shutters. Of course it also may vary depending on the time of the year and style of blinds you are ordering.Q. When should you get your blinds installed during the building process?
The best time to get your blinds installed is just before you move your furniture in. It's best to have all the paint work finished and the house nice and clean, you don't want your nice new blinds getting dirty.However, it's best to get organised well before this point to ensure your blinds are fitted at this time, otherwise if you wait till you move in you will have your neighbours learning a little bit more about you than you'd like.
Tip:
- If you can arrange access to the house before settlement, we can have your blinds ready for installation as soon as you take ownership of your new home.
- It is a good idea to decide what type of blinds you would like before the windows are designed. We regularly see disappointed faces when we advice customers that they can't have the blinds they like due to the window not having a deep enough recess or not designed for the blinds they want.
Q. How much will I need to spend?
This is a hard question to answer and varies greatly depending on which blind type and fabric you choose and of course the number of windows you have. We will be happy to work out the best solution based on the budget you set, everyone is different. Either way, it is best to determine your costs as early as possible in the building stage so you can include your window coverings in your overall budget! You don't want to be left with sheets hanging in your new home!Q. Do you take down old blinds or curtains?
Yes, we appreciate that it can be time consuming and difficult to take down your old blinds. So part of the service that we offer at Blockout Blinds is to take down all your old blinds at no extra charge. Please note that you will need to dispose of the blinds.Q. Will you clean up after you have installed?
