Hi I’m Jason from the company Blockout Blinds. I trust you’re having a great day and today I’m going to be talking about “A Roman a screen and a big headboard”.

Roman blinds these days are very popular and when most people get a roman blind they generally like to put something behind it to create privacy during the day when the roman blind is up.

Now in the older days, roman blinds quite commonly have that screen type lacy stuff behind it but now that’s a bit old school and most people like a bit more of a modern look.

So what we generally do is we’ll put a screen roller blind in the recess of the window and have the roman blind on the face hanging down covering the screen blind, what that means is when the screen blind is up and the roman is up, the roman hides the screen blinds you don’t see it there. So you only the screen blind if it’s down during the day when you don’t mind anyway.

Let’s look at this first photo here, this is where we’ve been a little bit creative, this customer wanted that look however there was no room in the recess to put a screen blind. So did we deny her her right of having a Roman and a screen? No we didn’t, we put our thinking hats on and thought what can we do to get this lady having exactly what she wants.

Here’s what we did, First of all we measure and put the screen on the architrave of the window because it couldn’t go inside. Now generally a roman blind sits quite close to the wall but of course it needs to go over the screen blinds stored. So we had to move the roman blind forward. You can see here, what we’ve done is the width of the top of that blind is about 120mm and normally is 40mm.

So we’ve extended it quite a bit so that the roman blind comes out and hangs down over the screen blind without interfering with it and that’s given the result we want. Well how did it end up looking? I mean it looks a bit weird from that side angle so let’s go to the next picture now.

Here you see the screen blind nearly fully down the roman blind just a little bit higher up and there you have it, a fantastic look we got the roman blind looking beautifully in the room and then we got the screen blind matching in with the surroundings behind it and as you can see it’s doing it’s job there stopping the sun shining through and heating up the home.

There you go, there’s a roman, a screen and a headboard, a good look and a also a bit of ingenuity around how to install it rather than just say no to our customers.

There you go, I hope you found that interesting and until next time.
