Hi there, in today’s tip we’re going to be looking at “Decorating With Retractable Flyscreens In Place”
Retractable fly screens are an awesome invention, they were designed to enable you to easily raise and lower them at will, instead of either being a semi-permanent or permanent fixture on your windows and doors. Instead of having to remove the fly screen on the days you’d like to enjoy the outside weather, you can simply raise and lower them as needed. With the old style of fly screens, you had to literally remove the screens from the window frame and store them somewhere.
Of course there are problems associated with doing this such:
- Removing them is generally not a simple process
- Where to store them
- They could get damaged
- If the weather turns or the bugs turn up it’s usually time consuming to put them back up
For most of us, because of these problems the fly screens never come off.
Now with retractable fly screens you can have the luxury to raise them to allow the air to flow from outside and no obstruction from the view.
Decorating Windows and Doors with Fabric For a Billowy Effect
Fabric makes windows have a softer feel. When the windows are open, with the right type of fabrics, you get a billowy effect. If this is what you are after, you realise you can have a nice billow of the window dressing when the retractable fly screens are lifted. The best types of fabrics for this are sheers, lightweight cottons and silks and even some polyester. Stay away from heavy drapes and curtains, which will not move with a light breeze coming through the window.
Decorating with Blinds and Shutters
Both blinds and plantation shutters will work with retractable fly screens because of the ease of opening them. If your decor uses this type of window blind, you can still use retractable flyscreens with ease. Even a door can have a covering with vertical blinds, which slide to the side for easy access and opening of the door and the fly screens. Dress up the vertical blinds with a pretty valance or decorative box above the blinds. You can even use a scarf; as long as it stays out of the way of the function of the door.
Easy Decor with Retractable Fly Screens
Just because you have a fly screen on the window or door does not mean you cannot decorate them the way you wish. The fly screen does not interfere with the interior of the window at all so you can decorate doors and windows any way you see fit.
