Hi I’m Jason from the brand Blockout Blinds and today, I’m gonna show you how you can put a motor on your roof to keep your home cooler. So what am I talking about today?
Well let’s have a look at this first photo here where you can see a house and we have the Cathedral windows on top of the roof.
Now of course, they’ve been designed for a particular reason and that’s to allow a little light to come into the home. It was quite common y’know in the 70s or 80s to have a lot of houses built with this style.
But of course what it also means is that in summer you’ve got a lot of sun beating down and y’know coming through the windows and making the house very hot.Now we all know that the best way to keep your house cool is to stop the sun from heating the glass in the first place.
You can see this person already has plantation shutters on the inside of the windows.
If you’ll have a look at this other photo here, I say, it’s not doing good enough job.
So we decided for this client to put an external awning on the roof.
Now, of course when you have an awning on the roof, you can’t manually control it; so we have to make it motorised which means we have a remote control inside is connected to the power, you can press the button to make it go up and down.
So if you’ll have a look at this photo here; here’s the blind sitting on the roof ready to go just before install.
And at this last photo here; you can see that we have the blind up and installed up on the cathedral window there and we’ve also put an awning on the front window as well.
So this client is now able to put the awning down on a hot day in the sun is not touching the glass much much cooler inside.
So, a lot of people they don’t realise we can motorise external awnings and also at Blockout Blinds we’re one of the few companies that do include the electrical work in the costing of any motorised products that we install.
A lot of companies out there simply install it and leave it to your own devices to get the electrician which is fine. However when we use our own electricians, they specialise in blinds and awnings. Therefore they know how to set them up correctly and they can also troubleshoot if the blind’s not working correctly when they’re wired up.
So there you go, a motor on your roof to keep your home cool.
I hope you found that interesting, and until next time.
