Hi I’m Jason from Blockout Blinds.
Today, I’m going to be talking about Honey Comb blinds.
So what is a honeycomb blind? Well I happen to have one here as you can see. A honeycomb blind is exactly as this is and it’s called a honey comb blind because from side on, this blind you can see, is made up of little cells that look a little bit like a honey comb would. What are these cells for? These cells are designed to trap air inside them, to create a barrier between outside and inside to give you not only heat protection in the summer, but to also keep your house cool in winter.
So these blinds really are the absolute best blind you can put inside your home to keep the heat in or out, and how do they do that? Well as I just said, we have cells that trap the air. Think of it a bit like a double glazed window. A double glazed window has two panes of glass and in between it, it has a vacuum or a pocket of air that stops the heat transferring from the outside piece of the glass to the inside piece of the glass. So this is a little bit like that.
Now this is a blockout fabric which means it blocks out 100% of the light from outside. Not only that, the inside of the cells are covered with a silver foil and once again, that gives it even better thermal properties. Another feature of this blind is that no matter what color you pick or select on the front that you see inside the home, the outside is white. And of course the reason they’re white is because white reflects the most amount of heat away. They also do come in a light filtering fabric which means a little bit of the light will filter through. However because it is light filtering, it then no longer has the foil inside so not quite as effective as this but it still does a very, very good job.
So this is a honeycomb blind, if heat is your primary concern about keeping it out or keeping it in, this is absolutely the blind for you. Of course if you try to keep the heat out during the day, an awning on the outside has or will do a better job than this but if you don’t have awnings and have to resort on putting a blind on the inside, this is the next best thing. Not only that. It’s quite modern looking. It has a chain operation which is quite easy to use and when it’s up, it’s quite compact. As you can see in the photo here, is a picture of a honeycomb blind in the down position and the second picture here, is a honeycomb blind on a window in the up position.
Now, another thing about our honey comb blinds that we’re excited about is that we have our unique one touch system. What that means is when you put the blind down, you just pull the chain once and let gravity do the work. So imagine you got four or five of these in the room, in the day you want to put them all down, you can just run around into each one and give a little tap and it will fall all the way to the bottom position. That’s gravity doing its work but of course when you put the blind up, you still have to pull the chain manually to the up position.
So you know, fantastic product. We provide lots of these to many of our customers and of course, they’re very green friendly. It will help you reduce your air-conditioning bills in summer, and it will really help reduce your heating bills in winter by keeping your home much warmer and so it won’t let heat escaping out through your glass into the atmosphere.
So I hope you’ve found that interesting and until next time.
