In today’s episode we’re going to be looking at “How Awnings Can Create an Oasis in your backyard”
We all love going on holidays and relaxing in an oasis setting, laying back on the lounge chair in the shade by the pool. You may even like reading a book or sipping on your favourite drink. But wouldn’t it be great if you could create your own oasis in your backyard.
Well you can by using outdoor awnings. So lets take a look at some ideas on how to transform your backyard into an oasis.
1. Choose Your Spot
Okay so the first thing is the area needs to be located right next to the structure of the home. Now the spot doesn’t need to have a door or window to work, however for easy access to the inside this might be your preference. Maybe you have an existing deck or patio which would be an ideal location.
2. Have a “Floor” Instead of Just the Ground
So even if you don’t put the awnings over a door or window, you will want to put it over a floored area outside if you are to create a true outdoor oasis. Creating a floor covering helps to define your outdoor area. You could create a deck made of wood or a patio made of tiles, rock or concrete. By creating the floor area this will help separate it from the rest of the yard.
3. Reasons To Have a Backyard Oasis
By creating your oasis using your outdoor awning will extend your homes living area and allow you to enjoy the outside of your home as well as the inside.
Here are a few ideas for enjoying your new oasis:
– It could be a place to have a swing
– Relax in a chair or chaise lounge
– Use it for bbq’s with the family and friends
– Set up a picnic table and enjoy meals under the protection of the awning.
In Summary
Awnings outside provide protection from the sun and from light inclement weather. It also provides protection from what may drop out of trees if you have placed the awning underneath the trees. The makeshift roof will also serve to offer shade, which will be an area a few degrees cooler than being out in the direct sunlight.
We’d love to hear how you plan on or have used awnings to create your own backyard oasis.
