Hi I’m Jason from the company Blockout Blinds and today I’m going to be showing you how to apply silicone spray to your Ziptrak Blinds to make sure they go up and down as smoothly as possible.

00:17 – A little hard to pull up and down

As you can see here we have a Ziptrak Blind a good 3-4 metres wide, which is a good example to use as the wider they are the more weight there is to lift up and down.

So here we go, the blind is already unclipped and if I lift this up, you can see it goes up reasonably easy but there is a little bit of friction that I can feel there. It’s a little bit hard to pull up and down.

00:43 – You’ll need some silicone spray

Now when you got your Ziptrak Blinds from us you would have been given a can of silicone spray which is to be used to put into the track of the Ziptrak to make sure that it goes up and down easily.

00:57 – Spray into the track using the pipe attachment

So here is the edge of our Ziptrak on the left side, we’ve got the good old silicone spray and what you need to do is attach the little pipe to make sure the spray comes out in a fine jet, not a wide spray.

You want to apply the spray in between where the mesh meets the aluminium track. So I’m just going to go and do that now, you want to spray up and down the distance that you can reach. So let’s do that now. As you can see it’s going into the grooves of the track and you need to that on both sides of the blind ensuring that it really gets into the mechanism.

01:39 – Run the blind up and down to embed the spray

I’ve now applied silicone spray to both sides of the blind, the next step is to get the blind and run it up and down a few times just to let that silicone really embed itself inside the track. Already, wow I can just feel how much smoother that feels.

02:00 – Repeat when you feel the blinds getting harder to move

So you want to apply the silicone spray anytime you feel the Ziptrak is starting to get a little bit harder to get up and down because over time you can get little bits of dirt and debris caught in the tracks that start to create friction.

It’s really important that you do that especially before it gets too hard to move up and down. You’ll then have a blind as easy as that.
