Hi I’m Jason from the company Blockout Blinds and today I’m going to be showing you how to fix the spline on your ZipTrak blind if it comes out of the track.

00:14 – What causes the spline to come of it’s track?

Now as you can see here we have a ZipTrak and you can clearly see that the spline has come out of the track. What causes the spline to come out? Well the blind might have rolled a bit crooked which you can see in another video we’ve done on that, or it could have just been that the blind has been up for quite sometime and you’ve pulled it down really quick and because it didn’t have any siicone spray in it to give it some lubrication it might have just popped out.

00:43 – No big deal as it’s an easy fix.

So first of all what we want to do is push the blind up until the point that is stuck gets to the top. So if I roll that up you can see when that gets to the top the blind gets stuck. If I try to push the blind up any higher it want actually go because it’s stuck in the top groove. If you keep pushing all you’re going to do is bunch up the fabric and you’re not going to get anywhere.

So what you need to do is grab the roll and turn the roll a little bit in the up position so that it’s being pulled from the top to get through the little lip. Now your blinds might be out of reach so if they are you might need to get a step ladder and of course if you are doing that be very careful and make sure you have somebody holding the ladder so you don’t fall off and hurt yourself.

So here we go, I’m going to put my hand on the roll with my other hand on the track at the bottom and I’m going to start turning the roll around. Did you see that, it just clicked out and the spline is now back into the track and I can put the blind up and it seems to be fine.

01:48 – Ensure you lubricate the track to prevent re-occurrence

Now if it has done that, what you’ll probably want to do is get your silicone spray which we provide you with and pull it down again this time give it a bit of a spray as it comes down. This will ensure it’s nice and lubricated and will help to prevent this from happening again. You might also find the second time you push it down after fixing it might not be quite lining up so you might need to give it a bit of a push here to keep it in alignment so you can get it all the way down.

Once you have the silicone spray on and have done that you should be back in operation like your blind is brand new.
