Hi I’m Jason from the company Blockout Blinds and today I’m going to talk about a product that is fantastic for your theatre room.
00:14 – A big trend in new homes
Theatre rooms are becoming more and more the trend and everyone is getting them. We’ve seen them pop up here and there and gone are the days where you just have a kitchen and a lounge, you now have a theatre room as well which is fantastic. It’s cheap and easy to stay home than go to the movies.
But of course what’s one of the requirements for a theatre room? We generally want the room to be quite dark.
00:38 – Solution to getting dark
We have a solution if that’s your case, we have a product called the Cassette Roller Blind.
Basically what the cassette roller blind is, is a roller blind except rather than hanging free, we run some tracks down the side which stops the light coming around the edges.
00:58 – Blinds in up position
So let’s take a look at this first photo here which is of a new theatre room, you can see the blinds on the left and the right are in the up position. Now it’s a bit hard to see because it is a bit dark and we’ve had to put the lights on.
01:07 – Blinds in the down position
So we look at this next photo now and you’ll see the theatre screen to the right there and it’s a lovely room and you’ll see the blinds are now in the down position and all the light is being blocked out. Here is another photo with the same blind in the up position letting the light in.
Now what we’ve done here is we decided to put the cassette roller blinds on the face or the architrave of the window which is generally what we recommend.
01:33 – Installed in the window recess
In this other photo I’ve got here to show you is of 3 windows not in a theatre room but it’s to give you an idea of another colour and how it can look. If you look at this photo you’ll see that the blinds have been installed into the recess fo the window, which means they’re inside the window. Now these windows work fine however we do try to avoid this because unless your windows are extremely square you’re going to have issues getting the tracks to line up perfectly flat with the windows and to ensure no light gets in.
It happens to be that these windows were perfect and we got it to work, but generally we try and install it on the face. Another reason we put these blinds in the recess is that it had lovely decorative architrave’s and the client didn’t want to cover it up.
02:14 – Close up of the cassette roller
To show you how you control the cassette roller blind you can see in this picture that they are controlled like a normal roller blind. In this close up you can see the chain is going inside a cassette to turn the mechanism around.
02:26 – Summary
So there you go, the cassette roller blinds are absolutely fantastic for theatres, they keep the room nice and dark and you can stay at home with the popcorn and enjoy yourself without leaving the home.
