Today we’re going to take a look at “Simple Tricks for Decorating Rooms with Blinds”
Blinds are a very popular window covering. They go very well alone or they can be dressed up and used in conjunction with other window treatments, even ones that are unconventional. The bedroom is a room you may not spend a lot of time in but it is a room for rest, romance, and rejuvenation. You will want this room to reflect your mood and your style. Decorating the bedroom need not be an expensive undertaking. There are some simple tricks to transforming a boring space into a restful oasis. This article talks about dressing up a room with blinds on the windows. First, make sure the blinds are the color you want – either an accent or neutral color to match the room. Next, read below for some good decorating tips.
Items Needed For a Bedroom Transformation
It would be helpful to have a sewing machine, though it is not completely necessary. If you are handy with needle and thread, that would work. You may also look to trying a fabric tape or glue too. You need a good pair of fabric scissors. You will need a sheet set to match the pattern you have on your bed, or one that compliments the bed covers. The size needed depends on how big your bedroom window(s) may be. If you have large windows, you may want a queen or king size set, or if the window is small, a twin or full size would work just fine.
Start with the Window
If you have blinds on your window, you do not have to worry about creating curtains with an insulated backing. The blinds will serve the purpose to give your privacy and insulation from the outside world. With the blinds in place, you have a clean slate with which to create a window masterpiece.
Consider what you want to do to dress the window now:
- Do you want a valance across the top?
- Do you want curtains that are tied back in the middle?
- Do you want long curtains to frame the window that reach the floor too?
Whichever you pick, take the flat sheet in your sheet set and measure your window. Take that measurement and add some to it for the “gathered” curtain, in other words you may want to add half again or double the size so the curtains will gather nicely if you want to tie them in the middle. Create your curtain and make a flap for the curtain rod.
Take the remaining sheet set and create tablecloths, pillows and even a coverlet for a chair or lounge. You will then have matching decor in the bedroom.
