03:34 – Summary of using different blinds in the same room
Hi, I’m Jason from the company Blockout Blinds. Today I’m going to be talking about putting different blinds in the same room or in the same viewing area.
Now we get asked this question a lot and it can be quite difficult at times because when you are ordering blinds it’s hard to visualize for yourself how things are going to look. And we get asked, well can i put different blinds in different rooms, different blinds in the same room. I’m going to try and help you out with that today.
Ideally, the main most important thing with blinds is keeping a consistent look on your façade at the front of the home or which ever side of your house faces the street. So, we do recommend keeping all the windows with the same type of blind so people driving past or people at the front of your home it looks consistent it doesn’t make your house look a bit sort of odd as such.
A common thing for people to do is to buy one of their most favourite products which is plantation shutters, they put plantation shutters on the front of the home so it looks absolutely beautiful and amazing, gives them functionality and then on the side of the back windows they might go for a less expensive product, to save a bit of money and put roller blinds throughout.
But with that said, you still can put different blinds in the same room and it generally comes down to functionality. If you have a look at this picture here, what you can see is a white timber Venetian on the right side of the room and over the back sliding door which go over the balcony you can see three roller blinds.
Now, why is this done? Well it could be a few reasons. The first thing is the customer might have really just wanted and liked the look of roller blinds which is great they go over the sliding door, they go up and down. However, maybe the window on the right they need some privacy and with roller blind, it’s either up or down so having the blind down during the day for privacy might have made the room too dark and they might have like the view.
So, in that case they’ve gone for the timber Venetian on the side which they can adjust the privacy with the slats and as you can see they’ve gone for white which means that blends in quite well with the wall. That’s another rule, generally when you’re putting a couple of different products in the same room make one of them a feature that stands out and the other type of blind maybe a bit more blending in with the room or with that said you can blend them all in.
But as you can see with this photo, I think it looks quite good with the roller blind in a sort of latte type colour and the Venetian white. It could have been the other way around, it could have been that they really like Venetian blinds because of the functionality of the tilting blades for the privacy. However, Venetian blinds are not really good to go over sliding doors. One, because they’re very heavy to pull up and down, and Venetian blinds are not really designed to go up and down a lot, it designed to tilt, and just to put up and down when you are cleaning.
Another thing is with the Venetian blind, when it goes up, it ends up stacking quite thickly and if that was to hang down from a sliding door it would probably be below head height and so whoever is going in the room would have to do the limbo to get in and out.
So, there could be a few reasons maybe they want the Venetian, maybe they want the roller either way, they decided to get both products and I would actually think it looks fantastic. So, as a rule you generally want to keep the facade the same. Ideally you want to keep most rooms the same blinds or any rooms you can view with one glance with the same look. However, due to functionality and different things like the sliding door we just looked at you might opt to put different blinds in the same room and it does work fine.
So, there you have it, that’s about putting different blinds in the same room. I hope I helped you out and until next time.
