Using Retractable Flyscreens On Windows

When you live in a mild climate, or a climate that will have some mild seasons, inevitably you may wish to open the windows to allow the fresh air to cleanse the home. This is great and if you have screens on your windows, it is great too. But conventional screens are a hinder sometimes. Even though the climate is mild, there may be times when you want no screen on the windows, to allow the full blast of fresh air into the room. Is this even possible with conventional screens? Yes and no.

Conventional screens are more of a permanent fixture on windows. In order remove most, you have to unclip them or unscrew them from the window frame. This means going outside, climbing a ladder and removing the screen. Then you have the issue of storage. Conventional screens, off the windows, are a bit on the fragile side. They bend easily and they can tear easily. Put one down near a cat with claws and watch what happens. So you have to find a safe spot for storage. Then when you want them back on you have to reverse the process, get the ladder, get the screen, clip, or screw them back into place. Not a fun job and most people will give up by that point and leave them either off or on permanently.

The nice thing about retractable flyscreens is the ability to raise and lower, just as you do the window. No more do you have to remove the screen and worry with storage if you take them off the window frame. These kinds of screens are perfect for climates that offer a time of nice mild, bug free weather. Even if that time is only for a short span, still, it is nice on those few days to be able to open completely the windows with no hindrance to stop the full airflow.

When the weather brings on the bugs, shut the retractable flyscreen so you can continue to enjoy the fresh air bug free. That is the best thing about these screens. Raise and lower at will, no worries of screws, storage, losing the hardware and reinstalling. Simply raise the window, and then raise the screen. These are the new ways to dress windows, and add value to the home. If you don’t have these installed, they are not as expensive as you may think.
