Today we’re going to take a look at “Why Use Retractable Fly Screen Doors”
The first question may be “what is a retractable fly screen for a door?” These are fly screens that run horizontally and roll up inconspicuously into a cassette. You may have heard them as “screen doors” but these go beyond what a normal screen door can do. These operate with ease of function by being almost automatic in their construction. Fly screens exist mainly to block insects from coming into a home or business. They are useful on any door where access to the outside is desired such as french doors and stacker doors. While these are fantastic products, please note that they are not designed for any type of security.
Retractable fly screens for doors come in four different systems.
Retractable Fly Screen Door in the Horizontal Single Cassette System
This is the most simplistic of the fly screen doors, offering a way to easily open and close the doors. They come with an optional brake, which helps to prevent the screen from retracting too quickly if you accidently let go.
Retractable Fly Screen Doors in the Horizontal Single Smooth System Cassette
This fly screen door will not slam shut as it has a counter weight that means the door will open and shut with no resistance and will stay open in any position. This makes it ideal for larger openings, high traffic areas and it is ideal for the elderly, small children and for people who have trouble opening and closing doors. The door slides to the side with effortless ease. It means that even on extra wide sliding glass and french doors, the screens open and shut easily.
Retractable Fly Screen Doors in the Horizontal Double Cassette System
This works in the same way as the single cassette system except it has a cassette on each side of the door as well as a spring assisted catch. This is perfect for the largest of sliding doors and works great for bifolds, stacker doors, and patio enclosures. These screen doors offer the ability to have an access door for your convenience.
Retractable Fly Screen Doors in the Vertical Single Cassette System
The vertical system can also work with windows as well as doors. Sometimes having a screen door that slides horizontally is not practical. The vertical screen door works well for wide doors and avoids having a bottom track on the floor.
The Practical Side of Retractable Fly Screen Doors
Fly screen doors work well in areas where the desire is to have the doors and windows open more often. It helps the house to cool naturally if you can open up the doors and windows and allow a nice breeze to blow through. However, opening doors and windows does not prevent pests from entering the home. This is why screens were invented and placed over doors and windows. These retractable fly screens doors make it so much easier to open and close so it is a pleasant experience to have fresh air without pests in your home.
